Fraternity and sorority houses once lined Edgewood Avenue, the main artery across Mercer University’s Macon, Georgia campus. It was there that the principals of the company were introduced to one another during the autumn of 1981.
Twenty-three years and two separate career paths later, fate would reintroduce the former fraternity brothers who, unknowingly, shared a mutual desire to create a small, self-directed company that would allow them to better utilize their talents and experience while simultaneously providing opportunities for greater involvement with their families and civic activities.
Thus became Edgewood Development Group, Inc., a Perry, Georgia company specializing in residential and commercial land development throughout the Southeastern U.S. The company has since expanded to include self-management of new construction projects.
In January 2005, the company became a fully licensed franchise of Epcon Communities, Inc., which specializes in the development and construction of ranch-style condominiums marketed to the active



From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Tolleson has been an active investor and developer of residential subdivisions ranging in size from single residential lot sales to procurement, planning, rezoning, development and construction of ranch-style condominium communities of 40 to 100 units.
Mr. Tolleson has also actively invested in resort investment properties, timberlands, and, to a limited extent, commercial properties. He also owns and operates a private quail hunting preserve and manages the timber resources of family-owned land.
From 1987 to 1999 Mr. Tolleson owned and operated Mellco, Inc.; one of the country’s largest wood-preserving companies. Mellco, Inc. processed and shipped over one hundred million board feet of lumber on an annual basis. Responsibilities encompassed management of operations in four states, oversight of 150 employees, as well as procurement of raw materials and sales of finished product. In April of 1999, he coordinated the sale of the company’s operating facilities to Georgia Pacific Corporation.
Mr. Tolleson attended Mercer University in Macon, GA from 1979 to 1984 majoring in economics. He serves on various boards of organizations which include: CB&T Bank of Middle Georgia (Board of Directors), ComSouth Telesys (Advisory Board Chairman), Houston County Development Authority (Past Chairman), Middle Georgia Regional Development Authority, Board of Visitors of Wesleyan College, Board of Trustees of The Westfield Schools, and the Administrative Board of Perry United Methodist Church.
From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Walton was the Director of Materials for the nation’s largest school bus manufacturer and maker of commercial buses and high-end motor coaches. He oversaw all aspects of production materials management – including procurement, logistics, inventory control, line-side delivery, production integration and quality control. He was instrumental in the implementation of just-in-time and lean manufacturing strategies within the company; resulting in substantial savings in time and money.
For the ten years prior to 2001, Mr. Walton was Project Engineer for one of the nation’s largest defense industry contractors. He led engineering teams in the design and construction of aircraft fuselage infrastructure systems; working with diverse and demanding customers like aircraft component manufacturers, assemblers, aviation regulatory agencies and Defense Department representatives.
His current responsibilities include the dual management of company finances and project work scheduling.
He is a 1988 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. In 1990, he received an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the same institution.
Mr. Walton serves as the Finance Chairperson for Perry United Methodist Church where he has also served as Stewardship Chairperson, Administrative Board member, Sunday School class president, and teacher.
From 1994 to 2004, Mr. Tolbert was employed in various sales and management capacities with a $26 billion per year, Fortune 100 Company.
For six years of those years, he was responsible for the oversight of more than $30 million annually in new building construction, plant renovations, and the facilities maintenance and service operations in 76 automotive manufacturing sites in North America.
Specific development responsibilities included “green-field” site sourcing, site utilization planning, land acquisition, and pre-construction land development. Construction responsibilities included project scoping, design, development of bid solicitation and contract documents, contractor negotiations, executive oversight of project costs and schedules, project close-out reviews, and customer turnover meetings.
Projects ranged in size from 25 to 83 acres; building construction from 94,000 to over 200,000 square feet. New construction project costs ranged from $6 million to $14 million. Renovation projects included building additions and retrofits of up to 200,000 square feet and ranged from $1 million to $12 million in cost.
From 1979 to 1994, he worked in various sales, engineering, and project management capacities with mechanical contractors in the Southeast.
He is a 1986 graduate of the Southern College of Technology with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology degree and has completed substantial work towards a Masters of Business Administration at Mercer University-
Macon, Georgia.


Mr. Wilkins brings an extensive background in construction and business management to Edgewood Development Group, Inc. He is responsible for delivering high-quality, cost efficient projects on time and maintaining safe and compliant work sites.
Prior to assuming his present duties, Mr. Wilkins was responsible for construction of an 86 unit, $15 million Epcon-franchised condominium community in Chattanooga, TN. He managed all phases of construction and assisted the on-site sales management team in successful product delivery.
He has experience in managing all aspects of residential and light commercial construction, remodeling, and home repair. He has managed the construction of luxury townhouses, single family homes, and, in 2003, a 73-unit adult retirement apartment community in Macon, GA.
In addition, Mr. Wilkins has over 20 years experience in business operations and management; including over 12 years with IBM in various sales and management capacities.
He is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is an ordained Deacon, and has served as Finance Chairman and Chairman of Diaconate, at Vineville Presbyterian Church.

From 1990 to 2007, Mr. McKee has been employed in various sales and management capacities with a Fortune 100 Company that specializes in building construction, renovation and maintenance. For the past six years, he was the Business Director responsible for building construction, renovation and facility maintenance for the Company’s fastest growing and most profitable Division that included 16 aftermarket automotive battery manufacturing plants. Specific responsibilities included the creation, staffing and management of a team to address the Division’s growing needs for construction and maintenance. The team under Mr. McKee’s leadership was responsible for all facets of development, construction and renovation of various manufacturing plants.
From 1997 to present Mr. McKee and his wife Teri have built, owned and operated two successful Dairy Queen franchises in North Carolina. He is a 1990 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, he holds an Unlimited General Contractor's License in the State of North Carolina.
